Volumes 1 through 6 were originally issued in dust jackets illustrated by Pelagie Doane, best known for her illustrations of the early Judy Bolton books. The cover art of the Pelagie Doane jackets wraps around to the spine of the jackets.

The second style of dust jacket for volumes 1 through 6 was illustrated by Ruth King. These jackets have solid colored spines with a spine symbol present in the center of the spine. The dust jackets for volumes 7 and 8 were also illustrated by King while volume 9 was illustrated by Pelagie Doane.
